To the comrades of all organizations, collectives, and people of Oaxaca, Mexico, and the world, of the Other Campaign, of the national and international Human Rights organizations, the news media, APPO members, and APPO sympathizers in Mexico and the world:
After the operation, transfer and blows received by PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN and VÍCTOR HUGO MARTINEZ TOLEDO, they were returned (at different times) to the Santa María Ixcotel Central Penitentiary in Oaxaca. PEDRO CASTILLO STARTED A HUNGER STRIKE ON NOVEMBER 27 AT 9:00 PM DEMANDING HIS FREEDOM AND THAT OF THE OTHER POLITICAL PRISONERS.
In view of yesterday’s events at the Santa María Ixcotel Central Penitentiary, where without any explanation whatsoever, PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN and VÍCTOR HUGO MARTINEZ TOLEDO were taken away, we want to update the information and clear up the following things.
The two comrades were taken out of the penitentiary yesterday, November 27, 2008, in the morning during an operation that began at 7:30 in the morning and ended at approximately 1:00 in the afternoon. Víctor Hugo Martínez Toledo was beaten and returned a few hours later to the penitentiary. Pedro Castillo Aragón, however, was disappeared for several hours, beaten more violently, and later (apparently late last night), presented at the Miahuatlan prison in Oaxaca. Today, Friday, November 28, our comrade Pedro Castillo Aragón was returned to the Santa María Ixcotel Central Penitentiary. At the present time, both comrades are at Ixcotel.
Yesterday, two mobilizations occurred to demand certain guarantees for our comrades. After the uncertainty generated by the operation that affected family members of the political prisoners and other prisoners, an assembly was held by family, friends, and APPO participants in which two actions were agreed upon. The first was a march last night from the Section 22 building to the Federal Courthouse and a blockade of Avenida Juárez where a press conference and rally were held for the freedom and presentation of our comrades. Today, at 9 o’clock in the morning another blockade was set up outside the Federal Courthouse. At this time there was harassment by PFP agents who tried to cross the blockade in their truck, but they were obliged to respect the demonstration. These events have only led to the mobilization of those of us who demand justice and freedom for the peoples of Oaxaca and an end to the criminalization of social protest.
It is important to point out that in view of these actions, Pedro Castillo Aragón began a hunger strike yesterday, November 27 at 9 o’clock last night to demand his freedom and that of Víctor Martínez Toledo and Miguel Ángel García, APPO political prisoners since November 3, 2006, and also the freedom of the political prisoners of San Agustín Loxicha, Santiago Xanica, and San Pedro Yosotatu.
Nevertheless, we know that the State’s repressive actions are politically motivated in line with the interests of the despotic government of Ulises Ruiz and the complicity of the federal government. These people intend to demoralize our prisoner comrades and subject them to even greater repression than that brought against Victor Hugo for the two years and against Pedro Castillo Aragón for almost six years that they have been unjustly held prisoners. In this way, the authorities seek to keep their repressive message up to date against the people of Oaxaca and its political prisoners and prisoners of conscience.
Due to the magnitude of the operation, the events, and the current repressive circumstances both inside and outside the Penitentiary, we fear for the physical and emotional integrity and safety of our comrades held political prisoners.
We are outraged over this operation that has violated the basic rights of our comrades and jeopardized their safety and well-being by moving them from one place to another as if they were criminals.
We demand:
Freedom for PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN, VÍCTOR HUGO MARTÍNEZ TOLEDO and MIGUEL ÁNGEL GARCÍA!
Immediate, unconditional freedom for all the political prisoners of Oaxaca!

Pedro Castillo Aragón, Preso Politico, inicia huelga de hambre

Compañeras y compañeros de todas las organizaciones, colectivos y personas de Oaxaca, México y el Mundo, de la Otra Campaña, de los Organismos Nacionales e Internacionales de Derechos humanos, a los medios de comunicacion, a los Integrantes de la APPO, a los simpatizantes de la APPO en México y el mundo.
Después del operativo, traslado y los golpes recibidos PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN y VÍCTOR HUGO MARTINEZ TOLEDO son regresados (en diferentes momentos) a la Penitenciaría Central de Santa María Ixcotel. Oax. PEDRO CASTILLO INICIA HUELGA DE HAMBRE EN DEMANDA POR SU LIBERTAD Y DE LOS DEMAS PRESOS POLITICOS DE OAXACA EL JUEVES 27 DE NOVIEMBRE A LAS 9:00 PM.
Ante los hechos suscitados en día de ayer en la Penitenciaría Central de Santa María Ixcotel, donde sin explicación alguna PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN y VÍCTOR HUGO MARTINEZ TOLEDO fueron sacados del lugar, queremos actualizar la información y hacer algunas precisiones:
Los dos compañeros fueron sacados de la penitenciaría el día de ayer Jueves 27 de noviembre de 2008 por la mañana durante un operativo que inició a las 7:30 de la mañana y terminó aproximadamente a la 1 de la tarde. Víctor Hugo Martínez Toledo fue golpeado y regresado unas horas después a la penitenciaría. Sin embargo Pedro Castillo Aragón estuvo desaparecido varias horas, fue golpeado con mayor violencia para posteriormente (al parecer a muy altas horas de la noche de ayer) ser presentado en el penal de Miahuatlan, Oaxaca. Para el día de hoy viernes 28 de noviembre, aproximadamente a las 3 de la tarde, el compañero Pedro Castillo Aragón fue regresado a la Penitenciaría Central de Santa María Ixcotel. En estos momentos ambos compañeros ya se encuentran en Ixcotel.
Desde el día de ayer, se realizaron dos movilizaciones para exigir garantías para nuestros compañeros. Después de la incertidumbre generada por el operativo y que afecto a los familiares de presos políticos y demás presos. Despues de una asamble a de familiares, amigos y participantes del movimiento de la APPO, se acordaron dos acciones. La primera por la noche del día de ayer una marcha que partió del edificio de la Sección 22 a los juzgados federales, así como el bloqueo de la avenida Juárez para la realización de una conferencia de prensa y un mitin por la libertad y presentación de nuestros compañeros. Para el día de hoy, a las 9 de la mañana se realizó un nuevo bloqueo a las afueras de los Juzgados Federales, en esta acción hubo acoso por parte de elementos de la PFP, todos armados, que pretendían atravesar el bloqueo a bordo de su unidad, sin embargo se les obligó a respetar la manifestación. Estos hechos solamente han provocado la movilización de quienes exigimos justicia y libertad para los pueblos de Oaxaca y un alto a la criminalización de la protesta social.
Es importante señalar que ante estas acciones, el compañero Pedro Castillo Aragón inició desde el día de ayer jueves 27 de noviembre a las 9:00 de la noche una huelga de hambre para exigir su libertad, la de Víctor Martínez Toledo y Miguel Ángel García, presos políticos de la APPO desde el 3 de noviembre de 2006; y también por la libertad de los presos politicos de San Agustín Loxicha, Santiago Xanica y San Pedro Yosotatu.
Sin embargo, sabemos que las acciones represivas por parte del Estado son motivadas políticamente de acuerdo a los intereses del gobierno déspota de Ulises Ruiz y la complicidad evidente del gobierno federal. Estas personas pretenden desmoralizar a nuestros compañeros presos y someterlos a una mayor represión de la que ya se ejerce contra ellos en estos 2 años para Víctor Hugo y casi 6 años para Pedro Castillo Aragón de estar injustamente presos. De esta manera, las autoridades pretenden actualizar su mensaje represivo contra el pueblo de Oaxaca y sus presos políticos y de conciencia.
Por la magnitud del operativo, los hechos, las circunstancias represivas actuales al interior y exterior de la Penitenciaría, tememos por la integridad física y emocional de nuestros compañeros presos políticos.
Manifestamos nuestra indignación por este operativo que viola los derechos fundamentales al poner en peligro la integridad y seguridad de nuestros compañeros presos al llevarlos de un lugar a otro como si fueran criminales.
Exigimos:
¡Libertad para PEDRO CASTILLO ARAGÓN, VÍCTOR HUGO MARTÍNEZ TOLEDO y MIGUEL ÁNGEL GARCÍA!
¡Libertad Inmediata e Incondicional a todos los presos políticos en Oaxaca!
