It seems as though there is a thread which might lead us through this...hold on to human rights issues like kidnapping, the use of force (paras, etc.): this is a sticky issue which will have to be resolved on a case-by-case basis,(private land versus collective land), but if we refuse to kidnap, to use violence against human flesh (as opposed to self-defense), if we refuse to torture and interr without fair trial...like the state is doing, like the PFP, and of course, like the PRI do...then we'll at least be able to be clear in our own minds...

There is some useful info in this post by "el pinche simon", but one has to read through at least six long paragraphs of incomprehensible whining to get to it! And even then, for all the complaints about the faults of "international solidarity", there's no hint of what international activists should be doing about the particular situation he describes -- or any other, for that matter!

If even the APPO collectively was taken in for a while by these PRI-istas in left clothing, why should internationals be faulted for not understanding the situation? Especially considering that most international solidarity-with-Oaxaca activists have probably never even heard of San Isidro Vista Hermosa?

Just as I ask servers in taquerias to leave out the cilantro, I'll ask el pinche simon to leave out the guilt in his future posts. I may be in a minority in my dislike of cilantro, but I'd bet the majority of the 453 people who viewed this post before I did would have preferred that out information be served without gratuitous guilt.
