El Enemigo Común

3 de Augusto de 2007 - CODEP escribe: La desinformación de los medios, la notas amarillistas tienen un objetivo especifico generar la confusión en la mente de los receptores y lectores para catalogar nuestra lucha como criminal, al mismo tiempo que en la televisión alientan mensajes subliminales, de que la APPO es violento.

Los grupos de poder, en todo momento juzgarán nuestra lucha como violenta e irracional, porque atenta contra los intereses de grupos, están acostumbrados a vivir de los recursos públicos, sin que nadie les exija cuentas, sin que nadie proteste, simplemente aceptar, callar y un grupo reducido decida a nombre de los Oaxaqueños.

Por más de 78 años de priísmo en Oaxaca, hemos vivido sometido al caciquismo político de los grupos de poder y la pobreza que es el resultado de tantos años de olvido. También los pueblos indígenas han vivido bajo las políticas de prebenda del gobierno, victimas del engaño y sometimiento de los que están acostumbrados hablar a nombre de ellos. Por lo tanto nuestra lucha e ideas distan de la posición de los que pretenden vivir bajo el mismo esquema, por lo que, harán uso de todo los medios que tengan a su alcance para criminalizarnos, y tildarnos de malos ante el pueblo para que se nos rechace alejando todo posibilidad de generarla organización.

30 de Julio de 2007 - CODEP-APPO y la Huelga Mundial de Mujeres escribe: Un movimiento popular-magisterial extraordinario se ha desarrollado en Oaxaca , uno de los estados más pobres de México con una población mayoritariamente Indígena. Durante meses 1.5 millones de personas, de una población de 3.7 m, han participado en huelgas, marchas, plantones, tomas de televisoras y radios contra el fraude electoral y la más violenta represión en la historia actual del estado de Oaxaca. Han participado todos los sectores – sacerdotes y religiosas, vendedores ambulantes, enfermeras y otros profesionales, defensores del medioambiente… – y en todas las movilizaciones se han destacado las mujeres: maestras, amas de casa, estudiantes … Violencia el 16 de julio. Oaxaca 2007. Documentation of some of the indigenous women and youth participating in digital video workshops through the auspices of proyecto autogestion and CODEP, Comite de defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo.

These are fotos of some of the camera-persons involved in proyecto autogestion’s debut film project: “el machete: la lucha por el poder popular” now screening all over.

All the camera-persons are indigenous community members, mostly women and youth, organizing under the auspices of CODEP, the Committee Organized in Defense of the People’s Rights. The editing was completed through collective media arts workshops, which now, along with donated equipment, have contributed to the ability of CODEP to edit its own film projects from now on. “Proyecto Autogestion” is the fusion of www.elenemigocomun.net and Palenque Urbana in an attempt to challenge models of international solidarity with communities in resistance by contributing to their self-empowerment through media workshops and equipment.

Oaxaca 2007. This is an interview with Marcos Garcia, a state council member of CODEP, Comite de Defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo (Committee in Defense of the People’s Rights).

On Tuesday November, 27th 2006 in Putla Villa de Guerrero Oaxaca, Marcos Garcia, a state council member of CODEP, one of the many groups inside of the Oaxacan People’s Popular Assembly APPO, is ambushed by four men armed with assault rifles. The men fire over 140 rounds at Garcia’s vehicle, 8 of which impact him all over his body. Garcia survives the attack, and lives to tell his story. This is an interview conducted by four indigenous youth from the region, and edited through collective editing workshops hosted by CODEP and Proyecto Autogestion. (en español)

January 11th, 2007 - Global Women´s Strike writes: In November the Global Women´s Strike met with women from Oaxaca, Mexico, and we committed ourselves to disseminating information about their struggle, their demands, their leading participation in the Asamblea Popular de los Pueblos de Oaxaca (APPO) – Popular Assembly of the People of Oaxaca – the great unity it has achieved and the harsh repression which aims to defeat it. Which will be held in the normal school of Ixtepec the 27th and 28th of January starting at 9:00 AM

We are not seeking a political manifesto, but a consultation which may strengthen our forms of relating to one another and including ourselves to be actors in our collective life. (en español)
