El video ha comenzado a circular con profusa intensidad a través de YouTube para dejar en evidencia el clima antiinmigrante que se vive en Estados Unidos. En la cinta se observa a un grupo de los Minuteman que, el pasado 1 de mayo, decidieron manifestarse a las puertas del Consulado de México en Santa Ana para pedir la deportación de 12 millones de indocumentados que luchan por sus derechos adquiridos y una vía a la legalización.
“El grupo de los Minuteman llegó sin previo aviso y con el fin de provocar a nuestra gente. Yo salí a la calle para pedirle a la gente que se metiera al Consulado y no respondiera a las provocaciones. Fue entonces que un grupo de niños de kinder, que está justo frente a nuestras oficinas, se percataron de la presencia de los Minuteman y les comenzaron a gritar ‘México, México, México’”, aseguró el Cónsul de México en Santa Ana, Luis Miguel Ortiz Haro.

Oaxaca 2007. Documentation of some of the indigenous women and youth participating in digital video workshops through the auspices of proyecto autogestion and CODEP, Comite de defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo.
These are fotos of some of the camera-persons involved in proyecto autogestion’s debut film project: “el machete: la lucha por el poder popular” now screening all over.

All the camera-persons are indigenous community members, mostly women and youth, organizing under the auspices of CODEP, the Committee Organized in Defense of the People’s Rights. The editing was completed through collective media arts workshops, which now, along with donated equipment, have contributed to the ability of CODEP to edit its own film projects from now on. “Proyecto Autogestion” is the fusion of www.elenemigocomun.net and Palenque Urbana in an attempt to challenge models of international solidarity with communities in resistance by contributing to their self-empowerment through media workshops and equipment.

Oaxaca 2007. This is an interview with Marcos Garcia, a state council member of CODEP, Comite de Defensa de los Derechos del Pueblo (Committee in Defense of the People’s Rights).
On Tuesday November, 27th 2006 in Putla Villa de Guerrero Oaxaca, Marcos Garcia, a state council member of CODEP, one of the many groups inside of the Oaxacan People’s Popular Assembly APPO, is ambushed by four men armed with assault rifles. The men fire over 140 rounds at Garcia’s vehicle, 8 of which impact him all over his body. Garcia survives the attack, and lives to tell his story. This is an interview conducted by four indigenous youth from the region, and edited through collective editing workshops hosted by CODEP and Proyecto Autogestion. (en español)

6 Enero 2007 - indyoax escribe: Mas de 10 mil personas marcharon por las calles de Oaxaca a pesar del cerco impuesto por Policías Preventivos del Estado en los alrededores del zocalo y santo domingo.
Encabezados por familiares de los prisioneros de Ulises Ruiz -entre los que se encuentran 16 personas en el penal femenil de Tlacolula y 19 más en el penal de Miahuatlán-, por las calles se escucharon múltiples consignas coreadas con mas fuerza que nunca, pues esta marcha ha servido como balance despues de la represión sufrida el 25 de Noviembre del 2006 y luego de la persecución, encarcelamiento y tortura.

December 12th, 2006 - from I-Witness Video: On October 30, 2006 at a demonstration protesting the murder of journalist Brad Will in Mexico, members of the NYPD assaulted an independent videographer and stole his videocamera.
That’s right, stole. The filmmaker, Flux Rostrum, was not arrested. He did not receive a receipt for seized property. He was not even directly asked for his camera. Instead, without any warning, he was jumped by two police officers, one of whom is an NYPD captain, and knocked down onto the asphalt of 39th Street. One police officer was succcesful in wrenching the camera out of Flux’s hands. As Flux crawled around on the ground looking for the eyeglasses which had been knocked off his face during the attack, the cop with the camera quickly conferred with another officer. Then he ran off to hide the camera.
