Oaxaca Petition to the UCSC Academic Senate

We the undersigned Students, Staff and Faculty of UC Santa Cruz support the APPO (Asamblea Popular del Pueblo de Oaxaca) in their struggle of peaceful civil disobedience for social justice in Oaxaca. We demand that the Mexican Government stop it’s violent campaign against the demonstrators. This means:

1. Immediate withdrawal of the Preventive Police Force

2. A halt to paramilitary actions against the APPO.

3. Immediate return of individuals who have been “disappeared”

4. Release of all political prisoners
