deesings writes: Protest the rape, murder, and torture of our Mexican brothers and sisters in Oaxaca by their Governor Ulises Ruiz! As of this December, Governor Ulises Ruiz’s violence, according to Oaxacan protesters, has killed 20 Oaxacans, 50 others are reported “missing”, at least 60 reports has emerged of police raping women, around 40 cases of torture are reported, and over 250 people have been jailed.

The National Teachers Union SNTE-CNTE Sec. 22 in Oaxaca, Mexico went on strike in May for a salary raise, increased funding and infrastructure for public schools, school breakfasts, supplies, shoes and eyeglasses for marginalized students. Governor Ulises Ruiz responded with brutal force. The Oaxaca Police killed 5 teachers and students in June.

The Popular Assemblies of the People of Oaxaca (APPO) joined with teachers and students in a peaceful assembly for more funding in education, release of political prisoners, and the removal of Governor Ulises Ruiz for murder, rape, kidnapping, and torture.

Bring letters to the Mexican Consulate and also bring signs: Ruiz Must Resign! End the Terror in Oaxaca”, “Solidarity with Oaxaca’s Teachers”, etc.

On Dec. 22nd, stand and rise up in solidarity with the people of Oaxaca for education, democracy, freedom, and justice. This holiday season take action to show your words of good will towards men and women.
