Oaxaca is in its eighth month of grassroots protest, with demands for the resignation of their US-backed governor growing stronger each day.

Meanwhile, the government and police are continuing a campaign of harassment involving arrests, abductions, and killings. Patricia Segura and Alejandro Reyes from the Chiapas Support Committee will cover current events and background on Oaxaca’s struggle.

Chiapas and the Zapatistas are supporting the grassroots struggle in Oaxaca while also moving ahead with the Other Campaign. Mary Anne Tenuto from the Chiapas Support Committee will give an update on the New Year’s Eve encuentro in Chiapas and Bay Area organizing with the Other Campaign.

Lebanon has seen huge demonstrations over the last month with well over a million people demanding a change in the western supported government. Left Turn’s Rayan El-Amine will be returning from Lebanon and will report on the social upheaval in Lebanon. (For more information see “People’s Revolt in Lebanon“)
