Despite the repression, imprisonment of over 40 people and the atmosphere of terror and uncertainty maintained by governor Ruiz’s goons and police, people have progressively begun to break the fear. Two weeks ago an APPO was created in the coastal region of Juchitan; 36 Triqui Indian communities established the Autonomous municipality of Copala; the teachers union held its delegate assembly and decided to strengthen their relationship with APPO and call their membership to massively participate in tomorrow Tenth Mega-March. APPO is also conducting coordination both with their supporters in Mexico City and other states, the Other Campaign, and representatives of the Democratic National Convention to join efforts to broaden in support of Oaxaca’s democratic demands and against the rightist government of president Calderon.
