Compañeros, compañeras, our pain, rage, death and dignity now urge us to make our word known.

The Adherents to the Sixth in the community of Cruzton, municipality Venustiano Carranza, Chiapas, state the following: Last May 22, at 4:20 in the morning we were ambushed in our community cemetery by a heavily armed group from Nuevo Guadalupe Victoria, which started an armed attack that lasted four and a half hours. We had to take refuge behind the rocks in a grove of trees to protect our lives.

At 6 o’clock in the morning, the hail of bullets let up a little bit, and our comrade Rodrigo Guadalupe Huet Gomez got up to see what was going on. He was hit by a bullet in the left temple and was only able to cry out, “They got me. I need help.”

An ambulance from Venustiano Carranza was called, but it was detained in the Guadalupe Victoria neighborhood by a group headed by the local agent, Eleuterio Bautista Aguilar.  An ambulance from Teopisca was then called, and it started out in the company of a civil defense truck. Both vehicles were stopped approximately 100 meters away from our comrade Rodrigo Guadalupe Huet Gomez.

The civil protection group was intercepted by three heavily armed assailants, who were surrounded by other armed men with plenty of ammunition.

Our wounded comrade stopped struggling for his life at 7 o’clock in the morning, God’s Time. His body was not removed from that spot until 6 o’clock in the evening.
The ceremony to say adios to our comrade was held on May 24, 2017, in our community cemetery. We bid farewell to his body, but his righteous,  rebellious struggle will always be part of us.

We ask that our sister organizations show their solidarity by demanding:

1. An investigation of the perpetrators and masterminds of the cowardly ambush that resulted in the death of our comrade Rodrigo Guadalupe Huet Gómez.

2. Punishment to the full extent of the law for the responsible persons.

3. Disarmament of the group that ambushed us with the aim of putting an end to their threats and harassment in our community.

4. Compañeros, compañeras, suffering and death is present in our community. Now, more than ever, we ask you not to leave us alone.
