Mexican Consulate
Dear Sir or Madame,
The world is watching your military killing, gassing and beating un-armed teachers and other protesters, and torturing those detained.
You need to get the fraudulent governor out of Oaxaca and start clean. You are once again discrediting the governing system of your country.
There are urgent reasons for this uprising. You can kill and disappear some protesters, but brutality will not “disappear” their deeply felt reasons for protesting. Military force will never win this battle for you.
You need to address the causes. Why not assign your police and military to distribute food, to repair schools and water and sewage systems, to provide transportation, train them to assist doctors, assign them to help with the farming.
Work with the protesting groups to form city and state governments that truly represent them and serve their genuine needs as citizens. Otherwise you lose, and beautiful Mexico loses. The world is watching you.
Sincerely,
Ruth Valdez,
a teacher and voter
