Accept this cordial greeting and very strong embrace on the part of Movement for Justice in El Barrio. We want to tell you that we, the simple and humble people of East Harlem, New York, are enraged about the repressive attacks that the compañer@s who were attacked had to face in Oaxaca, Mexico. It deeply fills us with pain and rage to know that the compañ@ros Beatríz Cariño Trujillo, from the Center of Community Support Working United (CACTUS) and Jyry Jaakkola, from the Organization Uusi Tuuli Ry (New Wind) were murdered and that compañer@s from the Caravan of Support and Solidarity with the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala, Oaxaca were seriously injured. We want to let you know, that as immigrants on the other side, we are aware of what happened and that we condemn the repression that they faced.
We also know about the repression that our sisters and brothers from the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala, Oaxaca are facing and we want to let them know that they are not alone. Here in New York, we are also adherents of The Other Campaign and we admire your dignified struggle. We also condemn the repressive attacks from the state that they face.
From El Barrio, New York, we denounce and condemn all the acts that occurred on the 27th of April and what the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala, Oaxaca has had to face. We directly blame the paramilitary group UBISORT and the Mexican government, and especially the corrupt governor of Oaxaca, Ulises Ruiz who utilizes paramilitary groups to attack our beloved people in struggle.
As part of The Other Campaign, we know that this most recent attack is part of the repression that our compatriots who fight for our beloved Mexico face. We also know that the capitalist system and the political class of Mexico with its three political parties PRI, PAN, and PRD do this with the objective of crushing our dignified struggle. We know very well that this repression is happening in different parts of Mexico including our dear Zapatista sisters and brothers in Chiapas and our dear compañ@ros from San Salvador Atenco. Which is the reason that we are sharing these words from the other side, to let you all know that from here in East Harlem, New York we are going to support you and we will do everything necessary so that the day of tomorrow together we can achieve our liberation.
Sisters and brothers you are not alone, we are with you and we unite in a cry of rebellion and dignified rage.
If they touch one of us, they touch all of us!
Stop the aggression towards the Autonomous Municipality of San Juan Copala!

[03-05-2010] Ataque a caravana en Oaxaca: solidaridad desde Europa
El México que lucha, crea y camina por una vida digna construyendo caminos de autonomía, de resistencia y emancipación fue gravemente herido una vez mas por una represión asesina. Una caravana de cerca 30 personas de distintas organizaciones nacionales (APPO, VOCAL, CACTUS, sección 22), periodistas y observadores internacionales, que llevaba solidaridad a la
comunidad indígena autónoma de San Juan Copala en la región Triqui de Oaxaca, fue violentamente atacada por un grupo paramilitar ligado a la UBISORT, organización priista, es decir del mismo partido del gobernador del estado Ulises Ruiz Ortiz.
La emboscada con armas de fuego en contra de la caravana, organizada para llevar acopio escolar, comida y agua en una de las regiones mas pobres de México, historicamente rebelde a los poderes coloniales y a los gobiernos, pero afectada en los últimos años por una violenta guerra interna provocada por el viejo juego del “dividi et impera” del gobierno mexicano, provocó dos muertos (la defensora de derechos humanos mexicana Beatriz Alberta Cariño, de la organización CACTUS y Tyri Antero Jaakola, observador internacional de nacionalidad finlandesa), muchos heridos y un numero indefinido de desaparecidos.
Después de la masacre en el 1997 de Acteal y de Ateneo y Oaxaca en el 2006, esta dramática forma de violencia sigue siendo la manera con que el Poder ha elegido doblegar cualquiera resistencia en las zonas más pobres de México. Como un monstruo insaciable que goza de toda impunidad, esta estrategia, que prevé el aniquilamiento de quien disiente, tiene profunda raíces históricas que andan al ritmo de racismo, despojo, saqueo, supremacía y devastación.
Es la misma violencia sistémica que el rico Occidente desde siempre despliega en todas las áreas del planeta colonizables y que el gobierno mexicano repropone, sea militarizando el país (también con los conspicuos apoyos económicos de los gobiernos europeos y Estados Unidos), sea privatizando y vendiendo la tierra a las multinacionales.
En este enésimo ataque vemos el intento de destruir la resistencia de las comunidades indígenas que desde el Chiapas hasta Oaxaca luchan por la autonomía, para golpear a quienes no aceptan esta otra forma de colonización que, a través mega proyectos internacionales, quisiera arrebatarles sus tierras y sus usos y costumbres.
Un ataque, finalmente, para doblegar la resistencia de los movimientos sociales y hostigar la solidaridad internacional.
De nuestro lado, no vamos a parar de llevar nuestro pleno apoyo a las comunidades en resistencia y nuestra total solidaridad a los compañeros y compañeras golpeadas por la represion. Invitamos a manifestar nuestro coraje, a denunciar y presionar al gobierno mexicano, culpable directo de esta nueva masacre.
