Mexican Army attacks human rights defenders in Oaxaca

Around 6:45 pm, Tuesday, January 11 of this year, more than 20 soldiers of the Mexican Army commanded by someone called “Carlos” drove up in official vehicle 1006277 and violently broke into the offices of Committee in Defense of the Rights of the People / Committee in Defense of Women’s Rights (CODEP-CODEM) without a search warrant, kicking down the door and destroying it.
 
During the incursion, they held seven compañeros at gunpoint and roughly interrogated them, demanding information about organized crime and drug trafficking. They clearly intended to link our activities with “organized crime,” in keeping with their rationale of criminalizing the organization and social protest in general.

APPO as a United Vision

July 26th, 2007 – CODEP writes: APPO is a popular magisterial movement formed to resolve the conflict created by the tyrant Ulisés Ruiz and backed by ex President Vicente Fox Quesada and the illegitimate Fecal and all of the government apparatus that support them in the state of Oaxaca.

In November 2006 APPO finally met and formally constituted its existence as the Popular Assembly of the Peoples of Oaxaca despite the obstacles created by some organizations that opposed its creation.

Among the themes generated by this assembly were defining the characteristics that APPO should have, as well as the objectives that it should strive for, based on the following general considerations

The transition from the fascist Vicente Fox to the equally fascist Felipe Calderón was marked by the vile acts of repression committed against the dignified people of Oaxaca in a special way this week:

• Detention of and holding protesters incommunicado since the 25th of November and their transfer to the maximum security prison in San Francisco del Rincón, Nayarit.
